About Dr. William “Trey” Jones

Dr. Trey Jones is a radiation oncologist at the San Antonio Cancer Center. He creates customized treatment plans for patients with all types of cancers.

Dr. Jones received his medical degree from The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio. He then stayed at UTHSCSA, completing a residency in Radiation Oncology and receiving training in IMRT, IGRT, SBRT, and SRS. During his residency, he had the distinction of serving as Chief Resident. He stayed on as faculty at UTHSCSA rising to the rank of Associate Professor and serving as Associate Program Director for the residency program as well as Chair of the Protocol Review Committee.

In 2012, he established the Department of Radiation Oncology for the South Texas Veteran’s Health Care System. His focus was on quality care leading the center through both ACR and ASTRO APEx accreditation. He served on the national ACR/ ARS Appropriateness Criteria Panel on GI Malignancies and has extensive experience with head and neck, genitourinary, and breast malignancies. He now brings his expertise to the San Antonio Cancer Center.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. He also spends time bicycling (he raced and finished the Leadville 100!), flying single-engine airplanes, restoring automobiles, and SCUBA diving.
